Chumash Casino Resort

Santa Ynez, California

Mike Hughes Architects provided three-dimensional design and production architecture on this $76 million casino resort for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. It is located in the heart of the Santa Ynez wine country between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Offering 94,000 square feet of Las Vegas-style gaming; a AAA four-diamond, 106-room hotel with 17 luxury suites; and upscale spa services; the resort is inspired by the Santa Ynez tribal history and the beautiful, rolling hills of the surrounding wine country.

The project includes a three-story casino facility with parking on the first level, gaming and entertainment on the second level and third level dining and banquet areas. The adjacent hotel, with its separate parking structure, shares the porte-cochère with the casino to which it is connected by a bridge. The hotel offers spacious rooms and balconies, including many featuring whirlpool tubs. Custom-designed furnishings made of elegant mahogany, high-end fabrics and exquisite carpets complement the dramatic architectural features. Restaurants include elegant, fine dining, an all-you-can-eat buffet and informal 24-hour casual dining facilities.
